Mixed media place June challenge / Органайзер для скрап-материалов

NEW CHALLENGE at Mixed Media Place!

This time I decorated a kitchen spice organizer, and transformed it into a storage box for my craft materials. I love green and yellow colors a lot, so this month´s moodboard is perfect for my table organizer.

I covered the blank with the tissue paper, gluing it with the 3D Matte Gel. Then I prepared a little of dyed texture paste, mixing the same matte gel with the yellow mica powder. I added some extra texture to the surface, using this shiny texture paste and a stencil. Additional elements like washi tape, art pebbles and metallic embellishment served well as minor decorations.

Altered mermaid + tutorial / Альтер-русалочка + MK

Dear mixed media friends!

This is Maria Lillepruun with you today on Mixed Media Place. My new project is an altered plastic mermaid that my daughter has broken. I decided to turn it into a little shiny sculpture. Everybody likes mermaids, right?

I fell in love with Powertex textile hardeners long ago. This is an endless inspiration for mixed media projects.

The basic process looks like this:

First, I assembled the broken doll on the natural rock that is meant to serve as the sculpture base. Then, I wrapped the doll in fabric, that had been previously dipped in Powertex medium.

The next day it all was dry, and I could play with all kind of different media on it. I covered the newly made sculpture in white gesso, and later colored it with Lindy´s Gang sprays.

Then, I added big plastic beads and glass art pebbles, gluing them onto the fabric. I also added more texture to the surfaces with green microbeads, gluing them with 3D Gloss Gel.

Later, I added deeper shades of color with alcohol inks by Ranger. When all was dry, I glued some decorative silver foil onto the mermaid, and sprinkled glitter on top of it.

The final result is complex and elaborate, as well as chic and glamorous.

Привет!

В блоге Глубины Подсознания новое, очень свободное задание из серии "фразы" - De gustibus non disputandum est (О вкусах не спорят). Недавно поймала себя на мысли, что в прошлой жизни я, наверное, была пауком. И это при том, что в нынешней я их до одури боюсь!!! Но вот что всегда со мной, так это какая-то нездоровая мания в скрапе все переплетать, перематывать, связывать... Замечаю за своими работами очень часто, что даже если и стараюсь не переборщить с декором, то в итоге все равно получаются джунгли. И не важно из тесьмы ли, из цветов, из чипборда или металюшек... Истинная паутина выходит! А у вас есть такие фишки, которые на бессознательном уровне у вас в творчестве получаются? И, может быть, вас самих иногда бесят? :)

I decided to make a little mystical layout using one of my favorite 7 Dots Studio collection "Garden Party". This collection speaks white summer nights to me, so I think it is totally acute at this time of the year. Faires, bug and butterflies, strong colour contrasts - this is a very beautiful combination.
